Ghost of a Dream, REMEMBER WHEN TOMORROW CAME, 2024, laminated glass with digitally printed interlayer, Pacific Park Campus, Brooklyn
REMEMBER WHEN TOMORROW CAME is a site-specific artwork created by the artist duo Ghost of a Dream for the entry corridor of the new Pacific Park Campus, Brooklyn. This immersive piece spans the corridor wall, measuring over 18 feet wide, and greets visitors with its eye-catching color palette. Students experience the artwork in motion as they walk along the corridor, and it is also visible through a large window to passersby on the street.
The printed glass mural is a digital collage featuring overlapping bands of text that repeat the phrase “remember when tomorrow came” in over 170 languages spoken throughout New York City. This thought-provoking phrase suggests the hopeful and transformative experience of middle school. The interwoven text and contrasting colors symbolize the dynamic and stimulating learning environment at Pacific Park Campus. By highlighting the city's linguistic diversity, the artists present it as a microcosm of the world's cultures to convey a global perspective and a sense of infinite possibilities.
